It's been a while since anywhere near me has experienced that type of flooding, I guess since Hurricane Harvey. But every time there is serious flooding we see images of people sitting on their houses or climbing to the highest ground possible to escape the rising water and ride out the storm or await rescue. Today I thought about a song proclaiming no other name being higher than that of Jesus, and my mind went another direction than it usually does when considering His high name. He is our strong tower, our place of refuge.
What if we were to remember that there is another meaning to high than worthy of praise. We try so many different ways and strategies to escape the rain and storms of life that flood our lives with destruction. But He is our refuge, our place of safety. As we draw near to Him we rise above our circumstances and situations to a place of security in His great love for us.
When difficulties begin to rise, when the storms rage, don't panic. Go higher. Get closer to Jesus. He is our answer, our escape from destruction. He is our rescue, and no matter how high the waters rise there is nothing higher and more secure than our place in Him, because nothing can separate us from His love.
