Unshackled Moments ~ December 6 ~ Looking For Peace

Definition of PEACE
1 : a state of tranquility or quiet: as
a : freedom from civil disturbance
b : a state of security or order within a community provided for by law or custom
2 : freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions
3 : harmony in personal relations

As I drove home from work yesterday, I felt rushed and stressed. The rushed feeling came from wanting to be home. I don't usually work Saturdays and I haven't been able to spend as much time with Leah this week as I'd like. So I wanted to get home. I felt stressed because I knew that today I would be giving the message for the Second Sunday of Advent with its theme of peace. It always seems a little off to consider Christmas a time of peace to me. I know that there is a promise of pece to come, an eternal, total and complete peace, but what about now?

Then I topped a hill and saw this sunset to my right. I pulled over and snapped a few photos and then just sat there for about thirty seconds. It overwhelmed me, and I began to praise God. I felt my inner turmoil quiet and the stress fade away in the wonder of who God is and that He loves me. And that Dear Reader is one example of peace that is available to us now, and every day at every moment, because Christ came that we might have relationship with our Creator and experience the blessing of quiet within our souls and an end of strife with God.
