STEP TEN. Continue to take personal inventory. When you are wrong promptly admit it.
If the previous steps have been taken to the best of our ability, relying on God's power and grace, and with honesty, we will have already found some freedom, most likely, in all areas of our life and not just in the area we hoped for, and our relationship with God has gotten much better. Now what? Now keep doing what you've been doing. It's a balance between keeping our hearts and minds on God rather than on our selves and keeping an eye on where we are throughout our day in regards to God's will, acting in love, and walking free of the old behavior that was natural to us when we were the caterpillar.
The point is to continue to draw closer and closer to God and to not create more wreckage while we work on cleaning up the wreckage we've already made. There is no need to make a list of amends to be made longer. When we miss the mark and fall short of the goal, and we will, we immediately take it to God, asking for His forgiveness and help. And if we need to make it right with someone we do so. The faster the better, and if it all possible we do not let the day end without trying to make things right. When we start and go through each day remembering that we can't control our own lives or walk with God on our own, surrendering anew to Him and His will (taking up our cross and following Him) evaluating our actions and motives, talking to someone if we need to, asking for God's help in removing or defeating the areas we struggle in and admitting our shortcomings we will see a major difference in our lives. So will others. It's at this point that people will begin to remark on the changes in our lives and believe that the work God has done to set us free is real. This is where God begins to receive glory by and in our lives. It's an awesome time, and it never has to end.
